The Comprehensive PCR Applied SOMS Session
Are you tired of simply reading about molecular techniques in textbooks?
Come and try the real deal! COMPASS (The Comprehensive PCR Applied SOMS Session) is a highly successful SOMS Workshop where you can gain hands-on experience in a cell biology laboratory. Think of it as a condensed, one-day session of doing lab work.
At COMPASS you will be guided through the steps of your first Polymerase Chain Reaction. Using a nucleic acid purification kit and materials such as saliva, you will analyse your own DNA to see whether you have a particular mutation (don’t worry – they’re protective mutations). Performing this elementary, yet widely used technique enables you to think forward to something new – be it a cure, a correct diagnosis or simply a better dosage of a patient’s medication.
